Coping With Pain (Self Care)

We all use various means of dealing with pain. Some types of pain will gradually go away with rest and aspirin, and in some cases, mild exercise. Other types of pain require intervention in the form of medical treatment or therapy.

There are various kinds of self-treatment methods for coping with pain, including:

  • Exercise
  • Massage therapy
  • Ice therapy
  • Heat therapy
  • Water therapy (such as a gentle hydro massage)

In any event, no one deserves to endure pain needlessly. Of course, acute pain that lasts more than a day or two may be a sign that you need medical attention. The key is never ignoring pain, for it is an indication that something has gone wrong with your body.
